Begin by removing the battery, power adapter and unplugging the unit from the wall. After removing the battery, remove the hard drive cover and the hard drive located on the bottom right hand side of the laptop. Next remove the modem, memory and the modem/LAN panels on the back of the casing. Then remove the memory modules slowly and set them aside in a secure location. A small container should be used for keeping track of screws and small parts. Move to the modem card and remove the two screws attaching it to the motherboard; also remove the LAN jack from the motherboard. Then slide the modem card/LAN assembly out of the laptop.

At this point every remaining screw on the back side of the laptop needs to be removed; there are 20 screws total. Carefully return the laptop right side up and use a small flathead screwdriver to pry up the cover located above the keyboard. Remove this plastic cover and the two screws under it keeping the keyboard in place. Lean the keyboard towards you, slowly and carefully, and then disconnect the cable from the motherboard; this should be pulled very slowly to prevent damage to the cable. The DVD drive screw is located close to the exposed motherboard towards the bottom. Slide out the drive to expose the VGA board connectors. There is a plate covering the connectors secured by a single screw, remove it.

Next remove the three screws securing the cover to reveal several cables to be disconnected. At this point you will be able to remove the laptop’s cover which includes the LCD. You will find a metal brace over the hard drive connector secured by a screw which needs to be removed. The VGA board will be located on the left side of the case and can now be removed and replaced. Repeat these steps in reverse order to reassemble the laptop.
